How on earth do I fill in a Risk Assessment?
Do I even need a risk assessment? YES
Do I even need a risk assessment? Any event requires a risk assessment. If you are doing the same event each week, you only need to do one risk assessment, just put the dates the activity will run from. If you want to to do a new type of event, e.g. a pub crawl instead of a meeting in a bookable room, you need to do a risk assessment for that activity as well.
Example risk assessments Basic stall Fundraising Dance Rehearsals Organising a trip Cold food Hot food Film Screening BBQ If you click here, you can find example risk assessments for the following activities AND MANY MORE! All you need to do is modify it to match your particular event!
What does a good risk assessment look like? PLEASE NOTE: There are multiple words in every box, and everything is explained
What does a rubbish risk assessment look like? PLEASE NOTE: Blank spaces, very few words in the boxes, nothing explained
How do you work out the risk? Risk is calculated by the likelihood of it happening x the severity of it happening. So, the top right (red) is very likely and very dangerous. The bottom left (green) is very unlikely and not very dangerous. The closer you are the the green side the better.
How do you work out the risk? If your risk is calculated at an 8 or above, please attach the risk assessment and email aden.fry@uea.ac.uk and he will help discuss your options to help minimise the risk, and put on your event
