Example #1 You want to join a gym. Gym A charges $5 per session, but you must pay a membership fee of $150. Gym B charges $20 per session. How many sessions would you need to go to for the two gyms to be the same cost? 5x + 150 = 20x x = 10 sessions

Example #2 You are making bread for a bake sale. It costs $2 to make each loaf of bread and you had to spend $36 to buy a mixer. You plan to sell the bread for $5 per loaf. How many do you have to sell to break even? 2x + 36 = 5x x = 12 loaves of bread

Example #3 The Fahrenheit and Celsius temperature scales are related by the formula: 𝐹= 9 5 𝐶+32. What is the temperature in Celsius when it is 68°F? 68= 9 5 𝐶+32 20°C
