School and Classroom Expectations Be Responsible Be Respectful Be Safe Students are expected to be responsible for their actions. Students are expected to be respectful to ALL Scholars and adults on campus. Students are expected to be safe and make good choice while at school.

Rewards Students can clip up and receive a gem. Once they get 4 they retire to the Hall of Fame and get a new clip. Class points and marbles. Working towards free time.  Good self-esteem.  FUN Friday Treat from me

What happens if Scholars do not follow expectations? Habits of success grade will go down Bad choice slip Loss of privileges Phone call to parents

Homework Policy Homework is given M-Th Expect nightly reading for 30 min Math page and/or grammar/phonics page If your child does not turn in homework:  Missing out on important skills and practice Grade will go down Miss out on FUN Friday or treat from me

AGENDA Very important to look at every day. Scholar responsibility to write everything down  Check Every Friday for parent signature  Can also be a great communication tool.

Other ways of communication Friday Folders Remind If you are not on Remind please sign up at:                @knasa Also email Kim_walker@chino.k12.ca.us I will get back to you as soon as I am able to.

Technology Use This year we are fortunate to have the 5 computers and 10 Chrome books.  Remind students about appropriate technology use If you have home computer access that would be helpful. If not, please let me know ASAP.

Technology Continued.... Website Class Link Access Sample math power points are located on my website. Please expect to do this as a homework assignment the night before the test.  Located on the Rhodes homepage The idea is to log in once annd be able to access all programs.  Please let me know ASAP if you cannot get on

Grades All grade continue to be standard based grades 4 - Student  has an in depth understanding of  material 3 -  Student is consistently meeting grade level standards 2 -  Student has a partial understanding of material 1 -  Student has little or no understanding of material.  Remember it is like riding a bike.  The word I like to remember is CONSISTENT

Phonics vs. Spelling We will not be having formal "spelling words" to memorize. We will be teaching the phonics rules and picking words that follow the rules. Every two weeks there will be a phonics rule and 8 vocabulary words.

Friday Folders Every Friday a folder will come home with graded work and your Scholar's weekly behavior. Please sign and return on Monday. Keep all graded papers at home.

Please NO cookies, cupcakes, or any treats for birthdays Good alternatives are pencils, or a book donated in your Scholars name.

Extracurricular Activities P.E. Music Computer Lab We are so excited to announce that we have 3 fully credentialed P.E. teachers. They take all of 4th grade every Thursday afternoon for 75 minutes. Please make sure your Scholar is dressed appropriately and has water.  Deodorant is also a fantastic idea.  Friday mornings 4th grade Scholars learn to play the recorder. Mrs. Yii will be sending more information in a couple weeks.  We go every Monday morning and Wednesday afternoon. Also have access in the classroom.  Please send a set of headphones to use in the classroom.

Upcoming important dates to remember Fair field trip September 7. We encourage parents to come and chaperone. Please sign up tonight. Please note you must drive your own car.  Parent teacher conferences minimum day all week September 24-28. Most will be during the day (after 12) so please make every effort to be there.
