Religious Education Maths English Character Curriculum Daily Mile STEM Through our RE lessons we will be answering; What do Christians believe God is like? Maths This half term the children will develop skills in; place value (e.g Compare and order numbers from 0 up to 100; use and = signs. ) and addition and subtraction. English Our first key text is Mrs Armitage and the big wave by Quentin Blake. During this unit the children will learn to write a funny story with a cumulative structure. The second key text is Amelia Earhart This book tells the story of brave Amelia Earhart who set new flying records for women and took on challenging and dangerous missions. The children will write a sequential biography of a famous person. Character Curriculum This term we will be exploring the virtues of caring, helpfulness, cooperation, courage, national kindness week and reflection. Daily Mile The aim of The Daily Mile is to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of our children. Children are physically active (run, jog or walk) for 15 mins a day. Year 2 Autumn Term 1 Topic: Big Question: Wow Start: Fantastic finish: STEM Our main focuses in STEM this half Term are Science and Computing. In Science, we will be taking a close look at the differences between living and non-living things and the requirements for life. We will also look at how humans can eat a healthy diet. Computing for this half term will have a Coding focus, where the children will recap how to give instructions as well as learning about different types of input. P.E. Year 2 will have two P.E. sessions a week. One of these will be from our new realPE scheme, which will focus on developing the children’s Personal skills. They will also practise Multiskills in preparation for our Inter-House tournament. Topic We will be studying our topic through the question What does it mean to be healthy? The Science element will focus on Animals Including Humans alongside Living Things. We will then take a History focus, learning about the function of hospitals and the life of Florence Nightingale.
