Your Total Health Health is the combination of physical, mental/emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and social well-being. Why is it important to balance all five of these dimensions?

Physical Health How well your body functions Helps the body with: Performing daily activities Deal with everyday stress Avoid injury Top five health tips: Plenty of sleep Eat balanced meals 60 minutes of exercise Avoid drugs and alcohol Bathe and brush daily

Mental / Emotional Health How you feel about yourself How you meet the demands of daily life How you cope with problems

What are some characteristics of a mentally healthy person?

Mental / Emotional Health People who are mentally healthy tend to: Enjoy challenges that help them grow Accept responsibility for their actions Have a sense of control over their lives Express emotions in appropriate ways Are able to deal with stress and frustrations Make thoughtful and responsible decisions

Spiritual Health Spiritual health is a deep-seated sense of meaning and purpose. How does your religion and spirituality help with your mental and emotional well-being?

Intellectual Health Typically people think of intellectual health as academic knowledge, but it also includes: Creativity General knowledge Common sense Our thoughts are influenced by each of these factors, which in turn influence our decisions
