Agenda 6:45 - 7:00 CHI-NOG Overview 7:00 - 8:00 GNS3 Presentation 8:00 - 9:00 Happy Hour Overview of the group and introduction to organizers Featured presentation by Stephen Guppy from GNS3. Happy hour to continue after.

CHI-NOG Overview our goal is to create a Chicago based community of network professionals, by providing educational content, networking opportunities and certification advice meetings: presentations/speakers bring your own design casual networking design discussion certification advice (please see slide notes for more details) What are our goals? Our goal is to create a Chicago based community of network professionals, by providing educational content, networking opportunities and certification advice Why did we create it? Chicago is a great city with many networking professionals, but no networking organizations Usually most network engineer work within the silos of their department, but we found out is that many would like to meet other engineers have someone to bounce ideas, learn something new or share certification experiences. How did we do it? Little background, last year Brian McGaham, Jason Craft and I met in a Brian’s class and talked about how there is no local groups in Chicago for networking. Decided to start planning the group. Had our first meeting last year. Received a lot of great feedback. What are some ideas for the group? * presentations - formal presentations like this one, where we have guest speakers or CHI-NOG members. We are currently looking for volunteers. * bring your own design - if you have a design that you wanted other expertise, bring it in and very large number of CCIEs and CCDEs will be happy to help you evaluate it. * casual networking - social events, to get to meet the local networking professionals. * design discussions - talk about best practice designing networks. * certification advice - CCIE, CCDE, CCNA, CCNP certification advice, help create study group. Eventually we would like to model it after NANOG or RIPE organizations.
