Bunsen Burners How to use a Bunsen burner Safely By Thomas Lewzey.
A Bunsen Burner was named after Robert Bunsen. It is a common piece of science equipment that produces a gas flame. It is used for heating, sterilization,
In this presentation you will find out about the safety of a Bunsen Burner, and what we use them for. I will also show you about the dangers of using.

Settler Activity: How many science or autumn words can you find in these letters AUTUMN IS AMAZING Click to reveal answer

Using Nano Simbox Code: XXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Collect a tablet, open the web browser 2. Go to: student.nanosimbox.io 3. Enter the software using the code below, your email and name 4. Build Sulphuric Acid 5. Write down the completed chemical formula for this molecule on your worksheet (the letters and numbers) Code: XXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

In this experiment we show the power of concentrated sulphuric acid and sugar

The power of sugar is AMAZING!

This is why athletes eat sachets of glucose whilst running marathons….. In 2017, a list of his greatest films was published, give us the name of those films by the clues provided.

… and why Halloween sweets make you so excitable!

Fireworks How do they make so many colours?

Using Nano Simbox Code: XXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Collect a tablet, open the web browser 2. Go to: student.nanosimbox.io 3. Enter the software using the code below, your email and name 4. Build Sodium Chloride 5. Write down the completed chemical formula for this molecule (the letters and numbers) Code: XXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Put your safety goggles on Tuck your shirt and tie in Safety First Put your safety goggles on Tuck your shirt and tie in Tie long hair back   

Collect your equipment You will need: 1 small beaker with water 7 splints Bunsen burner 2 Heat proof mats

Take a splint out of the water Dip it into the chemical - note which one Hold it in a blue bunsen burner flame (remember – never leave a blue flame unattended, put it onto orange) Put it out on the spare heatproof mat (don’t blow things out when using bunsen burners) On your worksheet – note the colour of the flame

Check your results: Lithium Chloride– magenta red flame Calcium Chloride - orange red flame Potassium Chloride- lilac flame Strontium Chloride – crimson red flame Copper Chloride – blue or green flame Sodium Chloride - yellow flame Magnesium Chloride – bright white Barium Chloride – yellow green flame MAKE SURE YOUR BUNSEN BURNER IS TURNED OFF

Tidy your equipment away DO NOT PUT HOT OR SMOKING SPLINTS IN THE BIN – Dip them in your beaker of water if in doubt
