New Website for Programs for Minors minors.mit.edu - launched Spring 2017 Central website for guidance, resources, training Aimed at programs operated or sponsored by MIT “Minor” = under 18, non-MIT student Not an Institute policy at this time HR Guidelines on minors working/interning at MIT remain in effect

Program Registration and Training Online registration form for programs for minors – due one month prior Free training offered through United Educators List of “Dos and Don’ts” for program supervisors

Inspection of areas to be used in advance Safety Guidelines Inspection of areas to be used in advance Recommended ratios of chaperones/staff to minors Transportation/Housing/Health guidance EHS Hazard Assessments – same process Sign up for MIT Alert Consent & Liability Forms

The following categories must do a CORI check: Background Checks The following categories must do a CORI check: Supervisors of programs for minors Staff/volunteers who stay overnight with minors in residence halls Staff/volunteers who have direct contact with minors Exceptions: Day programs < 3 days and 2 adults present at all times Parents/guardians attend with minors Programs that provide own chaperones (i.e. school field trips)

Reporting Abuse or Neglect MIT expects that anyone suspecting abuse/neglect of a child will report it Information on signs of abuse/neglect are linked from new website Some MIT employees are mandated reporters based on their job responsibilities Reports should be directed to MIT Police who can assist with process
