if you are the Christ, the Son of God.” Matthew 26: 63-66  63 …The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.” 64 “Yes, it is as you say.” Jesus replied… 65 Then the high priest tore his clothes  and said, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy.  66 What do you think?” “He is worthy of death,” they answered.

John 19: 14-16 14 …“Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews. 15 But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!” “Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered. 16 Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.

Since the Jewish crowd and their leaders had rejected Jesus as their Messiah & Lord; they fearfully and sincerely ask, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

Acts 2: 38-39 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off —for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

Peter urges the crowd to repent and “change their minds.” Though they were all complicit in the rejection of Christ’s rule when he lived on Earth, they can still repent and declare allegiance to the Risen Lord Jesus!

Dimensions of Baptism: Outward Sign of Inner Repentance Symbolic of cleansing & washing Free, public statement of allegiance to Jesus Christ, as well as alliance with other Christians and His Church.
