What is a “Career Cluster?” A career cluster is a tool for organizing occupational information. Each cluster of occupations shares a common function, such as the cluster Health Services--involves caring for others’ health. Read the slide- contains the definition of career cluster. Ask if anyone can name different occupations that may be in the cluster of Health Services Go to next slide

Take a look at all of them and make a guess of which one you will fall under once you take the assessment. Ask a few students to share which cluster they think they would fall under. Next slide
Career Cluster Inventory Contains 80 items to rate on how much you enjoy these If you have done the activity, ask yourself, “Did I like doing that?” then rate how much you liked doing it. If you’ve never done the activity, imagine doing it, and rate how much you think you would like it. The choices are: Like very much Like Not sure Dislike Results will be saved automatically when you reach the Scores page. If you need to log off before rating all the activities, you need to click Save to save what you have completed. When you save your results, you will be asked to add reflections. Introduce the Career Cluster Inventory assessment. Explain to students that they will be completing this inventory next. Explain that the assessment contains 80 activities, and they will be asked to rate these activities based upon how much they think they would enjoy them. Explain that many of the activities will be ones they have experienced. For those activities, tell students to reflect on their experience and ask themselves, "Did I like doing this before?" Tell students that they will rate how much they like doing the activity. Explain that some activities will be things they have not done before. For these activities, they will need to imagine engaging in the activity and then rate how much they think they would like it. Explain that the response choices for each item are: Like very much, Like, Not sure, Dislike Tell students they will have better results if they stay away from the Not Sure selection. Next slide
At the top of this slide is a sample question. In the middle is example of a results page. If you click on a cluster you will come to a page which looks like the bottom right of this slide— The Next slide blows it up bigger. Next slide
The Career Cluster Inventory graphs your scores for the this is a sample results page. On the right side there is a SAVE button – Please save your results Once you hit SAVE you will be asked to enter your thoughts about your results. Please use this space to indicate if the cluster that is your top score is the same or different from what you initially thought. You may enter any other thoughts you have about your results Next slide
