A minimum of 1 weeknight time, but typically 3-4 weeknights Typically both weekend days Team discretion on late/early practices – we have a few 9:30 PM & 6:00 AM starts.

Player Development Committee (PDC) Responsible for many hockey operations for EVHA Coordination of tryouts and clinics Reviewing and recommending coaches Coach development Mite practice development Squirt C and Peewee B2/C coordination Summer training programs

Player Development eastviewhockey.net/playerdevelopment American Development Model Age appropriate training ABCs – Agility, Balance, Coordination, Stability Game consists of many small 1-on-1 “battles” 30 seconds of puck possession in 60 min game Half-ice – purchased boards with sponsorship Small Area Games – creativity, problem solving

Fair Play Policy eastviewhockey.net/handbook Changes & Clarifications Squirts/ 10U and Peewees/12U players’ positions should be rotated with equal playing time Squirt C and 10U B goalies encouraged to skate out Goalies should be given equal playing time over the course of the regular season. Squirt, 10U, Peewee and 12U should rotate goalies every other game. Bantams and 14/15U do not have a requirement to rotate player positions and may have specialty lines but all players should get opportunities to play on special team positions throughout the regular season For any team playing in playoffs, the Coach may utilize special power play lines, penalty kill lines, and may manipulate playing time to put their team in the best position to win, but, the Coach should utilize all players in the game.  On teams with more than one Goalie, the Coach may manipulate the Goalie rotation to give the team the best chance to win.  Teams can restrict playing time due to violation of team rules, attendance, illness, or injury

Tryouts: 2018 – 2019 eastviewhockey.net/tryouts Process based on objectivity and fairness Goal is to ensure each player is placed at the most appropriate level for their abilities Closed to parents Once the tryouts begin, parents will not be allowed in the arena Board members will also not be allowed in the arena during the time that their child is trying out. The scrimmages for Peewees and Bantams will be “games” against outside associations and will be closed to parents except Rosemount Scrimmages. After the 2nd session, a posting will go up to tell you which session your player should attend next.

Tryouts: 2018 – 2019 eastviewhockey.net/tryouts Goalies will not have separate tryout sessions. They will be observed and have some separate tryout drills assessed by goalie evaluators. Tryouts will consist of hockey related drills to demonstrate skills, and game like situations. The evaluators will be looking at the whole picture – skating skills, game like situations, 1:1, 2:2, etc. Although coaches have input in picking the final teams, the final decision is made collectively by the PDC and the coaches We have independent evaluators and members of our Player Development Committee evaluating players and placing players on teams. The coaches from each level will be consulted on the last day of the tryout process. There are no “coaches picks”

Tryouts: 2018 – 2019 eastviewhockey.net/tryouts IMPORTANT Check the Website for dates All players will receive a jersey and number for tryouts that must be worn Players must wear a black helmet with only EV stickers on it (no AAA stickers allowed.) If a player cannot be at tryouts please contact Brad DeFauw immediately.
