Mouth Breaks down food with teeth Saliva helps break down food and make the food easier to swallow

Epoglottis A small flap of tissue Helps the food go in the right direction

Esophagus A long cord that goes to the stomach Helps push the food to the stomach using something call peristalsis

Stomach Breaks down and mixes up the food with acid Food turns into a liquid

Small Intestine Takes nutrients out of the food and sent to the blood Uses Bile made from the liver The Bile is stored in the Gallbladder Pancreas makes Enzymes

Large Intestine Takes Water out of the food Sent to the blood

Rectum The liquid food turns into a solid

Anus The solid exits
