Exposition: Where we learn about the setting and major characters- useful and necessary to understand the events and conflict, but sometimes a little boring. A flat line. Rising Action: Created when a series of conflicts build tension or suspense. How a character handles or resolves these smaller conflicts helps define him/her/them. Climax: a turning point of the story. This is meant to be the moment of highest interest and emotion, leaving the reader wondering what is going to happen next. The character can not go back and do things differently now! Falling Action: occurs when the central conflict begins to resolve. The results of the main characters’ actions put revealed.
