Accessing Books & ebooks You can search for Books & eBooks via your Subject Resource page, just select the ‘Finding books’ tab http://libguides.staffs.ac.uk/education/books
Accessing Books & ebooks This will identify hard copy books we have in the library and also eBooks via Summon our all in one search engine Summon is a great tool to use when you are starting a new topic or subject area!
Searching for a book in the library You can see if we have the book as a physical copy in the library or as an electronic book. Select the book link This will take you through to the book record on the Library Catalogue and tell you where the book is located
Placing a hold on your books You can place a hold on your books via the Library Catalogue http://libcat.staffs.ac.uk/cgi-bin/koha/opac-user.pl To place a hold on the book on Summon you can select the book if you are on Summon Select place hold, log into your account and follow the instructions
Placing a hold on your books A Postal Loan If you are a Distance Learning Student living in the UK we provide a postal loan service. When placing a hold on a book log into your account. Make sure when you place a hold you open up the options and in the box type “Off Campus User”. Select Place Hold For more information visit the Off Campus User page
Renewing your books Your books will automatically renew after 2 weeks However, if the book is popular and other students have placed holds on the book you will be requested to return it. Usually you will receive an eMail to your student eMail inbox Please return the book promptly otherwise you will have to pay a recall charge
Accessing an electronic book To access an eBook select the Full Text Online link You will need to log into the eResource using your username & password
Reading an ebook To read an electronic book you have the option of downloading it as a file or by selecting read online Find a guide on using eBook tools via http://libguides.staffs.ac.uk/education/guides
