FACTORS THAT HAVE SHAPED FOOD AND NUTRITION STATUS POLITICAL WILL & COMMITMENT; THE KENYA CONSTITUTION 2010, VISION 2030,BIG 4,ASTGS, RECOGNIZES THAT EVERY PERSON HAS THE RIGHT TO BE; FREE FROM HUNGER, AND TO HAVE ADEQUATE FOOD OF ACCEPTABLE QUALITY (ARTICLE 43 1 (C)), EVERY CHILD HAS THE RIGHT TO BASIC NUTRITION. (ARTICLE 53 1 (C)) CONSUMERS HAVE THE RIGHT TO GOODS AND SERVICES OF REASONABLE QUALITY AND TO THE INFORMATION NECESSARY FOR THEM TO GAIN FULL BENEFIT FROM GOODS AND SERVICES AND; TO THE PROTECTION OF THEIR HEALTH, SAFETY, AND ECONOMIC INTERESTS. CT.FACTORS THAT HAVE SHAPED FOOD AND NUTRITION STATUS EXISTENCE OF THE FOOD AND NUTRITION SECURITY POLICY( 2012)& ITS IMPLEMENTATION FRAMEWORK (2017) KENYA HEALTH POLICY 2012-20130 HEALTH LAW 2016 ESTABLISHED LEADERSHIP & COORDINATION THROUGH SCALING UP NUTRITION MOVEMENT AND ITS NETWORKS , TECHNICAL WORKING GROUPS THAT FIT INTO-NUTRITION INTER AGENCY COORDINATING COMMITTEE ANCHORED UNDER THE HEALTH SECTOR STEERING COMMITTEE COORDINATED, APPROPRIATE FOOD AND NUTRITION RESPONSE IN EMERGENCIES AND MANAGEMENT OF ACUTE MALNUTRITION MANDATORY FOOD FORTIFICATION LAW COLLABORATION WITH OTHER SECTORS; WATER ,SOCIAL PROTECTION, EDUCATION & AGRICULTURE AND PARTNERS

Challenges in data collection and analysis RESOURCES; FINANCE HUMAN CAPACITY TIMELINESS AND LACK OF TECHNICAL HUMAN CAPACITY TO SCALE UP NUTRITION IN THE COUNTIES INCLUDING HOME ECONOMICS OTHER THAN HEALTH THE OTHER KEY SECTORS ARE STILL STRUGGLING WITH M&E SYSTEMS WITHOUT NUTRITION INDICATORS

Key ongoing policies/plans KENYA’S APPROACH TO FOOD SECURITY COMBINES LONGER-TERM THROUGH POLICIES THAT RESPOND TO IMMEDIATE NEEDS OF THE POOR AND FOOD INSECURE. STRENGTHENING FOOD AND NUTRITION SECURITY COORDINATION THROUGH A MULTI- SECTORIAL APPROACH THAT IS GLOBALLY ACCEPTABLE I.E SCALING UP NUTRITION(SUN) IMPLEMENTATION OF KENYA FOOD AND NUTRITION SECURITY POLICY 2012 CUSTOMIZED TO DEVOLVED SYSTEM THROUGH AN IMPLEMENTATION FRAMEWORK 2017 REVIEW OF THE NATIONAL NUTRITION ACTION PLAN 2019-2022 DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL AGRINUTRITION ACTION PLAN INCLUSION OF AGRINUTRITION IN THE AGRICULTURE STRATEGY UNDER DEVELOPMENT
