FINANCIAL REPORT YEAR ENDED MARCH 31, 2018

MAKING SENSE OF ALL THE NUMBERS

SSO INCOME STATEMENT 17/18

SSO Income statement highlights GAME ON – Ministry Grant process changed with a new sport plan – this is now an all inclusive grant, including special programs & Canada Games, and is based on our ability to show a clear pathway to the podium With the move of our investments to Manulife, interest earned was doubled. Revenue earned from investment Interest, Hilton Invitational, Hotel commissions and apparel sales helps SSO contribute towards and reduce the athlete cost to attend such programs as FutureGen, L2T, T2T, Provincial Teams and Canada Games Teams SSO moved to a much-needed larger office space which includes a classroom to run our coaching/judging courses Professional & legal fees included a full HR review by Sport Law & Strategy. This was not in the original budget but was approved and supported by the board as valuable SSO released new videos which brought much-needed branding and exposure to our sport along with a more user-friendly website design which will be launched shortly Credit card expenses were reduced to about half of previous year expenses Leasehold improvements for the new office will be depreciated over the next 5 years. New office furniture, shelving etc. was purchased at a substantial discount SSO supported six officials at the FINA School, and promotion of two officials to level three, held in Calgary at the NQ RTC financials are under the umbrella of SSO and tracked in detail in a separate database. They are integrated into the SSO year end financials.

SSO Reserve Plan SSO has approximately 2 years of Base Grant in reserve. With the new sport plan GameOn grant funding process changes and a later than usual confirmation of funding, SSO was able to proceed with our planned programs for the 17/18 season without delay. Many sports groups did not have the security of a reserve plan and had to delay planned programs. Reserve funds to continue programs after grant term ends, e.g. T2T, L2T also able to support future program planning. SSO has reserve funds should membership drop drastically, giving us time to react.
