How to help with reading at home. Keep reading with your child – stories, non- fiction, news and poetry. Discuss / Ask questions about the book, poem or text: What do you think might happen next? Why? How has the author described the character/setting/action? Which is a fact? Which is an opinion? How do you know? Which words prove that? Encourage your child to read a variety of texts – fiction, information books, comics, newspapers and magazines; to broaden their vocabulary.
