Trauma / Resus Room stocking reminder The goal is to have essential or critical supplies stocked in the Trauma / Resuscitation Room. Not all supply items fit this standard- even if you really really like tissues and socks (for example) in your room, they are not a life saving item and should not be stocked in the room. A good gauge to know if an item is essential or not is to imagine yourself in a code. If a doc is going to yell for a particular item, them stock it! Too much stuff makes it hard to find the important stuff and slows you down!

Obtain actual weights on your patients Trauma Ed Highlight Obtain actual weights on your patients

One of our ACS Auditor’s writes a blog and had this to say last month: “Don’t use an electronic trauma flow sheet yet if you can possibly avoid it!.... The electronic trauma flow sheet has major problems in both phases. But the good, old-fashioned paper sheet isn’t perfect either…” He then gives suggestions on how to improve charting…all of which we are doing! Please keep up the good work, fill out your “Just in Time” self audit for a reminder and if you can think of anyway to improve charting process let me know!

Remember Trauma Care and Charting is a team effort! ACS Help each other out! If you notice incomplete charting – complete it if you can or take it to someone who can! Remember Trauma Care and Charting is a team effort!
