21st September Learning intentions We are learning how the plot, character and themes are developed in part 2 We are beginning to think of possible ideas for creative/personal writing Success criteria Read part 2 Add notes about the characters and themes, select quotations and explain them Start planning personal/creative essay

Part 2 How do we see the theme of control so far in part 2? – Try to give specific examples (e.g. the war, the radio on the train etc) Why does Faber feel guilty? How does Montag feel about this fact? 3. How do we see that Montag is becoming more confident and determined about resisting the government? – think about his attitude to the books, Faber and his acknowledgement that he stole the book 4. What are the three most important thing we learn about Faber at this point?

Personal or Creative This is the second piece of work you’ll need for your folio You need to put a great deal of work into this as this essay alone is worth 15% of your final mark We will do further work to come up with ideas and how to develop them in the week beginning 8th October
