Bishop Justus Church of England School Morning Worship Bishop Justus School Virtues 10th September 2018 Bishop Justus Church of England School

Gather The Lord be with you And also with you

The Bishop Justus Virtues As part of being able to talk about our Bishop Justus community, this term’s worship will focus on our six virtues, which are an important part of who we are. This week we will explore the virtue of hope.

The Bishop Justus Virtues Faith Hope Love Wisdom Courage Kindness

Receive (today’s Bible reading) May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 New International Version(NIV)

Explore The virtue of hope We hope that we can live life to the fullest. We hope that there is truth, that searching for it will bring us closer to the truth. We hope that our striving is for the greater good and not in vain, so that we can transform our lives, both individually and collectively, and consequently the world around us. For discussion: What does ‘hope’ mean to you?

Explore During worship this week, please explore the virtue of hope. Here are some ideas for discussions to help you understand the importance of hope to our community. You might want to make a display or poster on your tutor group notice board. What are you hopeful about? What is the point of hope? What would life be like without hope? What should we hope for as a whole school community? As the Bishop Justus community, how can we make what we hope for actually happen? (your tutor could pass ideas to your learning director or the Chaplain)

Respond (this week’s prayer) Heavenly Father, We all have our own individual hopes, as well as those for our families, friends and the various communities of which we are a part. Give us all we pray Lord the wisdom, strength and Christian love to hold onto these hopes and not give up, even when things get tough. We ask all this as we look to the example of your son Jesus Christ. Amen

Go   Let us bless the Lord Thanks be to God
