Artifacts A object made by a human such as a tool

Archaeologists Studies man made evidence left by earlier people. Might look at artifacts found at an old Iroquois village site.

Economics Study of how people meet their needs and wants. Might look at how people acquired the food they eat.

Geography Studies land and resources of a region. Might look at why a group settled near the Genesee River.

Political Science Studies how people govern themselves. Might look at why the United states elected a president.

Columbian Exchange The exchange of goods and ideas between the Old World and the New World

Colony People who settle in a distant land but are still ruled by their native land

confederation A loose grouping of states or colonies that join together to rule an area.

Culture Total way of life of a group of people including food, clothing, music etc.

Environment The total surroundings of an are including physical, cultural and social conditions
