Content Development TESSA: OUT staff engaged in the Teacher Education in Sub-Saharan Africa (TESSA) project which aimed at improving the quality of classroom practices as well as providing access to teacher education resources across sub-Saharan Africa through the development of Open Educational Resources (OER) in four languages to support school-based teacher education: English, French, Swahili (Tanzania) and Arabic (Sudan). ICT COL-OUT OER Project: OUT staff have also developed OER courses namely Introduction to databases and Web Programming. This is part of a global initiative involving Open and Distance Learning institution from the Common wealth countries. The aim of the project is to assist youth in developing advanced ICT skills. These courses can be accessed in the OER repository: http://www.out.ac.tz:8088/institutionalrepository The Digital Fluency: OUT staff have also developed an OER course for Academic community at Higher Education Institutions. It comprises of five modules: Digital Fundamentals; Working with Open Educational Resources; Learning Design and Development for Blended / Online Delivery; Academic Integrity in the Digital Age; Storage and Access for Digital Resources. These modules offer the academic community more than ‘computer literacy’ knowledge and skills which enable them to take advantage of the affordances of using ICTs for the full range of teaching and learning, research, administrative duties, and blended or online modes of provision.
