Narrative of Short Changed Two men from different classes, walk into a café and discover their similarities and differences through their unlikely interactions. The camera angles in the story, fit in with the business man’s negative attitude towards the homeless man. This film has only a few lines of dialogue, as it is based around the actions of each character, and the looks they give each other.

Representation The homeless man is represented through being needy, such as taking the newspaper when the business man is not looking. Also, by the way he keeps glancing over the man’s newspaper and silver coins. The business man is represented as being not impressed, through the unruly looks he gives the homeless man, and the look he gives him when he sits down.

Sound: The sounds of the coins clattering on the table. The homeless man drinking his coffee. Business man rustling his newspaper. The clanking of the spoon in the mugs.

Camerawork: Camerawork: The facial expressions that the business man gives the homeless man The homeless man’s cold and desperate face as he asks for a drink. All shot in one main angle, to show the relationship between the two.

Mise-En-Scene’ Homeless man is wearing a ragged fleece and torn jeans, and has stubble, as he cannot afford to shave. He only has a few coins, from which he clumsily places on the table. He has to steal the man’s newspaper, as he cannot afford his own. Business man is dressed formally, in a suit and he has a broadsheet newspaper. He has an expensive looking haircut and watch. He pays for his coffee, with a hefty wallet, which represents his class compared to the homeless man.

Meaning of the Film This film represents the relationship between a lower class and middle class pair. It may be generalising, as it is only one scenario of the classes in London. The businessman is formal, and has table manners; Whereas, the homeless man steals his newspaper and annoys him by taking the spoon. It could also be saying something about the negative stereotypes, that homeless and lower class people in London receive. How homeless people may sometimes be treated by the middle classes.
