What happens after weathering?

What happens after weathering? Mountains are not covered in lots of sand on the top. So where do all the tiny fragments of rock go?

Sometimes large chunks of rock fall off the mountain in a ROCKFALL.

Sometimes rocks find their way into rivers and streams and are swept away. This is called TRANSPORTATION

Flash floods can carry large amounts of rocks very quickly.

Large rocks can only be TRANSPORTED when the river flows very quickly.

Small rocks and rock particles can be TRANSPORTED by both fast and slow rivers.

Eventually the river flows so slowly that even the smallest particles sink to the bottom.

This is called DEPOSITION

Erosion, transportation and deposition
