Session aims To discuss course expectations and structure To conduct further initial and diagnostic assessment

Outcomes In this session, you will: do assessment tasks around speaking and listening and knowledge about language review and reflect on literacy and language concepts covered in the pre-session initial assessment consider what we mean by literacy and language (as social, super-diverse practices) reflect on personal literacy / language confidence and identify areas for development in an individual learning plan

Discussion task Listen carefully to each other and ask questions. You should:  identify key points in what people say notice if anything is not clear recognise the kind of language and non-verbal strategies people use
