Multiplying and dividing Integers Objective: Learn to multiply and divide integers

When multiplying or dividing integers with the same sign… If you multiply or divide two integers with the same sign, you just have to multiply or divide and the answer will always be positive. For Example: 6(10) = 60 -6(-10)= 60 60 ÷ 6 = 10 - 60 ÷ - 6 = 10

When multiplying or dividing integers with different signs… When multiplying or dividing integers with different signs, you just multiply or divide and the answer will always be negative. For example: 11(-4) = -44 -11(4) = -44 -14 ÷ 7 = -2 14 ÷ ( -7) = -2

When we multiply or divide more than 2 integers… If you have an even amount of negative signs, you may multiply or divide and the answer will always be positive. For example: (-6)(3)(-10) = +180 100 ÷ (-5) ÷ (-2) = +10 If you have an odd amount of negative signs, you may multiply or divide and the answer will always be negative. For example: (-5)(-3)(-2) = - 30 -50 ÷ 5 ÷ 2 = - 5

Summary on Multiplying and dividing integers: When multiplying or dividing Integers: same signs = positive answer different signs = negative answer When Multiplying or Dividing more than 2 Integers: An even number of negative signs will give you a positive answer. An odd number of negative signs will give you a negative answer.
