Six out of the 10 indicator targets have been achieved and even exceeded in some cases. Accreditation and New/Revised Curricula are on track with results exceeding the 80% mark. Internships and External Revenue are still below the 50% mark.

STUDENT ENROLLMENT

STUDENT ENROLLMENT (2014 – 2018) Overall total enrolment increased by approx. 5,000 over the last year and the trend is also reflected in enrolllment for the various courses. 2018 Figures represent results for 9 months only. It is therefore expected that they may increase further by close of the year.

ENROLLMENT BY COURSE PER ACE (2014 – 2018) This graph shows the performance per ACE at PhD level. 8 ACEs exceeded the average PhD enrolment of 93 students with CEA-SMA (Benin) enrolling above 200 PhDs over the entire project life. 14 out of 22 ACEs performed below average and therefore the need to push for higher enrolment at the PhD level. We however note that centres have put in place strategies to address this. ENSEA for example has just introduced its first PhD programme. We are likely tot see the numbers increase by early 2019.

ENROLLMENT BY COURSE PER ACE (2014 – 2018) At Masters level, again we have 8 ACEs exceeding the average enrolment of 392 students with CEA-2iE (Burkina Faso) enrolling over 1,500 Masters since the startb of the project. CEA-MITIC (Senegal) and CEA-CETIC (Cameroon) follow with approximately 1000 students. However, the majority of the centres performed below average. We note here that we are yet to receive the 2018 reports for the last three centres, namely, CEA-CCBAD, ACEGID and WACCI so we can expect an increase in the numbers by our next meeting.

STUDENT INTERNSHIPS & FACULTY OUTREACH (2014 – 2018) Internships have generally seen an upward trend since the start of the project. For the period January – September 2018, we see a slight decrease but this is because it’s the result for a nine-month period while that for the preceding periods are for a full year

STUDENT INTERNSHIPS & FACULTY OUTREACH (2014 – 2018) This graph shows internships is a challenge as only 5 out of the 22 ACEs are above the average of 178 Internships and outreaches. For many of the centres, availability of relevant industries has been the challenge.

QUALITY EDUCATION & RESEARCH 12 Education Programmes internationally accredited AQAS: 6 Programmes WACCI (1) KNUST (5) HCERES: 6 Programmes CEA-SAMEF (4) CEA-SMA (2) For 2017 most accreditations obtained were national. In 2018, we have more international accreditations – an increase from 14% to 40%. Similarly, Gap/Self-Assessments incrased significantly from 6% to 40%
