Four Steps in developing your SV-2 Step 1 - Identify the Product's Timescale Decide on the timescale that this product is expected to represent (as-is, to-be, transitional) Multiple timescales are often needed for each product; a separate SV-2 should be produced for each timescale that is needed

Step 2 - Reference your System Interface Description (SV-1) Examine each system node and interface documented in your SV-1; these components comprise a "pick list" of candidates for consideration in the production of the SV-2. Identify: Applicable nodes Applicable interfaces Physical characteristics of each interface between system nodes

Step 3 - Identify the required SV-2 perspectives Identify the perspectives that the SV-2 should represent. Each perspective represents a separate version of the SV-2 Inter-nodal - Identifies system nodes and full details of the system interfaces between the nodes Intra-nodal - Identifies full details of the system to system interfaces within a node

Step 4 - Illustrate Systems Communications Description Illustrate the system nodes as icons in a diagram as annotated rectangles Connect the system nodes with arrows or lines to depict the interfaces among them Annotate full details of the physical characteristics of the communications pathways on the interface lines

Templates Two templates have been provided, following this slide First template is for inter-nodal diagrams Copy, delete, move or amend nodes as required Change, delete or add text as required Use connectors to depict interfaces Duplicate the slides as needed Second template is for intra-nodal diagrams Delete the instruction slides when SV-2 completed
