How Students Log In and Start a Test Welcome to the How Students Log In and Start a Test training module on the AIRWays Test Administration site. This module is third in a series of modules on the Test Administration Site and Student Testing Site. Student Testing Site Training Module #3

Where am I in the Test Site Training Modules? Test Administration Site (used by Teachers) How to Create and Start a Test Session How to Manage a Test Session Test Administration Site (used by Students) How Students Log in and Start a Test How Students Navigate a Test and Use Test Tools This module will cover: How students sign in to the Student Test Administration site How students confirm their information for testing How students start a test How students check their audio functions There are a total of four modules on the Test Administration sites used by teachers and by students. This is the first student training module for the Test Administration site. In this module, you will learn how students log in and start a test on the Student Test Administration site. This module covers the following tasks: How students sign in to the Student Test Administration site How students confirm their information for testing How students start a test How students check audio functions First, we will explain how students log in to the Student Test Administration site.

on Teacher Test Administration Site How Students Sign In Student Sign in Page on Student Testing Site Session ID on Teacher Test Administration Site Before students can sign in to the Student Test Administration Site, they need to be registered in the Student and User Management System. Please review the “Student and User Management” system training module to learn more about how student accounts are added before testing. Students use the secure browser to access the Student Test Administration Site. On the secure browser sign-in page, students enter their first name, their student ID, and the test session ID. The student ID is a combination of the student’s state, district, school, and unique student number. The session ID is located on the Teacher Test Administration site and should be given to students by the teacher or proctor. You can write or post the Test Session ID in a location where it is visible to all students, or you can print test tickets that contains student sign-on information. For more information about creating test sessions and test tickets, see the AIRWays User Guide and/or the first training module in this series, “How to Create and Start a Test Session.”

How Students Confirm Their Information Check the sign-in information to ensure it is correct Click Yes to complete signing in On the next page, students will verify that their personal information is correct to begin testing. They should check the following information: First name Student ID (SSID) Grade School If the information is correct, the student will select Yes to sign in. If the information is incorrect, the student should select No and notify the teacher of any wrong information.

How Students Select Tests Students click the desired test name If the correct test is not listed, the student should notify the teacher and go back to the login screen There may be multiple tests included in a test session. Students will need to select the desired test on the Your Tests window. This window includes all tests the student is eligible for that were included in that specific test session. Students select the test by clicking the test name. Once the student selects the correct test, their screen will automatically proceed to the next page. If the correct test is not listed, students should notify the teacher and click Back to Login. The teacher may need to add the correct test to the testing session from the teacher Test Administration Site. If the test is included in that test session, the teacher should check that this student is eligible to take this test. For more information on student test eligibility, review the AIRWays User Guide.

How Students are Approved for Testing After the student selects the correct test, a Waiting for Approval window will appear on their screen. The teacher or test proctor needs to approve that student for testing on the Teacher Test Administration site before the student can continue. See the training module on “How to Manage a Test” for details on how teachers approve tests. If the student selected the wrong test or they do not want to continue with the test at this time, they can cancel the test approval request by clicking Click to Cancel the Request and return to the login page. The student will be taken back to the login screen where they enter their personal information and the test session ID again. Once the teacher or proctor approves the student request for entry to the test session, they will proceed to the test.

How to Check Audio/Video Functioning If the test includes audio content or text-to-speech settings, a set of audio functionality checks appears. This is an example of the audio/video checks screen. First, the student clicks on the speaker button to play the sound and listens for the audio. Once the audio sample is finished playing, the student will click either the I heard the sound or I did not hear the sound. The student may also have the option to Skip TTS check. If the student clicks I heard the voice, the student will then click Continue. If the student clicks the I did not hear the voice, a pop-up message will appear and give the student the option to try the sound check again or to log out. The student should let you or another test proctor know if he or she is having audio problems. Next, we will discuss the Instructions and Help page.

Instructions and Help After approval, the student will see the Instructions and Help Page. The Instructions and Help page contains the following: A Help Guide A section to view Test Settings An Additional Test Information section The Help Guide contains information such as test directions, pausing a test, and provides an overview of how to use test tools. The Test Settings section allows students to view his or her individual test settings. Some examples of test settings include passage font size, masking, text-to-speech, and line reader. The Additional Test Information section displays any additional information that applies to the test such as testing environment rules and behavior expectations. This section should be be customized by the teacher. When the student is ready to begin the test, they click Begin Test Now.
