Attendance VPK Monthly attendance Absences Must be reviewed, signed and returned before the 5th of every following month. Absences Make sure to send a written note or email me to have your child excused. Excused : illness, death in family, religious reason Everything else will not be excused

How Does Your Child Go Home? Please send Transportation Changes in WRITING! Where to pick up

Communication Folders Please check your child’s folder daily. Any important notes should be placed in your child’s folder. Money should be in a labeled envelope/ziplock with name, $ amount and what it’s for.

Money Matters Always send money to school in a sealed envelope with the following information: Child’s Name Amount of Money Purpose for Money Teacher’s Name

Change of Clothes Please keep a change of clothes for your child at school at all times. (Send a new one when last has been used.) These clothes are often used for cafeteria spills, rainy days, and rarely bathroom accidents. Always label your child’s jackets, sweatshirts and lunchboxes.

Daily Routine Everyday we follow routine Big Day Scholastic Parent website will be sent on email

Homework Read Nightly with/to your child Reinforce concepts at home Check for comprehension, connect experiences. Home language as well Reinforce concepts at home Numbers, letters, colors, small motor, using scissors. Use my updates as a guide

Nap Small blanket or towel. Help us keep minimal sized blankets we have limited space. It’s hard for them to carry that to dismissal on Friday so please bring a bag with handles.

Donations Wish list is always on the website. You can check with me if you are not sure what we need right away. Snacks (not homemade) Recyclables

Snacks At the beginning of each month I will send home a note asking for snacks. If we start getting low on snacks I will send an additional note home. Goldfish, animal crackers, pretzels, yogurt, fresh banana bunch, graham crackers, applesauce etc.

Things I forgot to say last year What to expect academically: assessment 3 times,, screen for speech and vision/ language questions for Assessment Count /recognize numbers to 30 at least, patterns, size words positional words. Recognize letters, sounds Rhyming words/beginning sounds Counting syllables/breaking words apart Comprehension/higher order thinking Independence Sense of community, meshing home and school/ social /emotional growth….Conscious discipline
