PLAN: 1. COMMITTEE SET UP TO DEVELOP POLICY ON INFECTION CONTROL TRAINING ON THE POLICY CONDUCTED FOR ALL STAFF COPIES OF POLICY DOCUMENT CIRCULATED TO VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS COPIES OF INFECTION CONTROL POLICY POSTED ON ALL NOTICE BOARDS DAILY EDUCATION FOR PATIENTS AND RELATIONS ON PERSON AND ENVIRONMENTAL HYGIENE MONTHLY UPDATE MEETINGS HELD BY INFECTION CONTROL COMMITTEE TO ASSESS PROGRESS EMPHASIS ON THE USE OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT WAS MADE. RESULTS: IMPROVEMENT IN THE USAGE OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT EFFECTIVE OBSERVATION OF STANDARD PRECUATIONS BY STAFF IMPROVEMENT IN WASTE SEGREGATION AND PROPER DISPOSAL SINGLE USE OF NEEDLES AND SYRINGES IN ALL PATIENTS CARE CHANGING OF PATIENTS BEDSHEETS REGULARLY AND KEEPING PATIENTS BEDSIDES CLEAN IMPROVED STERILITY IN ALL PROCEDURES IN THE WARDS, LABORATORY, CLINICS , DELIVERY ROOM, AND OPERATING THEATRE. RATE OF NOSOCOMIAL INFECTIONS DROPPED FROM 62% TO 10%. MEASURES USED: DAILY SUPERVISION BY UNIT HEADS REGULAR ASSESSMENT OF PATIENTS STAY IN THE HOSPITAL MULTI-DISCIPLINARY TEAM: DOCTORS, NURSES, LABORATORY STAFF, DATA STAFF AND ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF History SDA HOSPITAL JENGRE WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1947 BY DR. JOHN ASHFORD HYDE AND WAS COMMISSIONED AS A HOSPITAL 1N 1954. IT IS A SECONDARY HEALTHCARE FACILITY WITH FIFTY (50) BED SPACE CAPACITY. IT IS LOCATED IN THE NORTHERN NIGERIA UNION CONFERENCE. Mission COMMITTED TO ALL PEOPLE INDIFFERENT OF RACE, GENDER AND RELIGION, OFFERNG THEM SERVICES AND CARE IN A WHOLISTIC ADVENTIST ENVIRONMENT.. Statistical Summary FOR 2017 OUTPATIENTS 7577 ANC 1254 ADMISSIONS 1306 SURGERIES 218 DELIVERIES 139 RADIOLOGY 1871 LABORATORY TESTS 18920 .
