Narrow Boat Share The idea here is to offer a different style of Share Boat to that being offered by various builders. I have for some time been looking to purchase a share in a narrow boat but with some special requirements. My family and friends have been using hire boats for apx. 15 years now and whereas it is very easy to find hire boats which will sleep 5/6 people individually, it is almost impossible to find a share boat which will do this. There are plenty of boats which are advertised as 6 berth but on investigation this turns out to be 3 doubles which is not what is required. This design is only a suggestion as to what could be produced and I invite suggestions from other people who might be interested in obtaining a share in a new boat which will be similar to the above. I have included some pictures showing the style which I like but I am fully aware that all new build boats need to have a degree of compromise so that all share holders can have an input to the design and layout. I will put an explanation of the ideas with the pictures. It would be perfect if I could find another 11 people who are interested in taking shares, thats when a final design could be agreed and submitted to top end quality builders for pricing. shares, thats when a final design could be agreed and submitted to top end quality builders for pricing. It would, I think, be necessary to have a boat share management company involved to look after all of the legal aspects of putting a syndicate of joint owners together. Should you be interested in taking this idea further then please contact me at Ian Johnston 01 st October 2009 Click To Continue

This is a very nice sleek style of bow and I like the idea of not having a bow locker. My idea would be to put anything which would normally go into the bow locker, into lockable side seating. This would give a large social area to enjoy the G & Ts It would also be nice to have a deck finish similar to the rear deck image., i.e. teak laid Picture by kind permission of Reading Marine Click To Continue

This is how I would like to see the bow, it would be extended by the bow locker being removed Picture by kind permission of Cauldon Boat Builders Click To Continue

I really like the look of this, it is actually a cruiser stern with storage boxes which go below the deck level and on this boat are used for storage of bikes. The teak finish is also attractive. It also produces a further social area with seating where the crew can be with the skipper whilst cruising. Picture by kind permission of Legacy Watercraft. Click To Continue

This shows one of the colour schemes which I like. Another, which is black with red and cream lines can be found on the website of Scenic Narrow Boats Picture by kind permission of Crown Narrow Boats Click To Continue

This is a nice bright galley with clean lines, the natural timber combining well with the lining on the cabin sides. There would need to be a breakfast bar for 2 people included, this added to the dinette seating would enable 6 people to eat together Picture by kind permission of Scenic Narrow Boats Click To Continue

This is just one idea for the breakfast bar, I am sure other designs could be considered Picture by kind permission of owners. Name withheld Click To Continue

I like this idea for the dinette. Each side could convert to single berths and also have the ability to be placed together making a double berth when required. Picture by kind permission of Crown Narrow Boats Click To Continue

It had been my intention to show a picture of a fixed double bed on this page, however permission to do so was withheld so I will attempt to give a description instead. The idea would be to have this as a cross boat double with the second part of the mattress going under the front edge of the bed when not in use. This would leave the bed able to be used for a lie-down without the second part of the mattress being on top of the bed. I would also like to see space on either side of the bed for bedside cabinets and wardrobes. A nice bed head could be incorporated possibly with port holes either side. Attention should be paid to the idea of each sleeping area of the boat having access to toilets without the need to pass through another cabin as shown on the proposed layout drawing Click To Continue

This shows 1 method of having a bunk which can be folded up under the gunwale when not needed. It can also be used as additional seating Picture by kind permission of Reading Marine Click To Continue

The same, ready for use Picture by kind permission of Reading Marine Click To Continue

This is a good idea and a practical way of hiding another berth. Unidentified Builder Click To Continue
