Steps to Finding Theme Steps: Finding Nemo example: 1. Make a list of “topics” for the story. 1. Love, family, Friendship, Bravery, Courage, Trust, Independence 2. Choose one, and state what the author believes about that topic. 2. The author believes that friendship can help anybody overcome obstacles. 3. Cross out the author believes that. 3. The author believes that friendship can help anybody overcome obstacles. 4. Take out any character names, or specific details to the story. (Notice: mine didn’t have any) 5.
