Task 1: How has the function of Liverpool changed over time? Industrial docks and ship building to ………………? Task 2: Discuss with your partner the function of Stockport today, be prepared to share your thoughts with the class. Make a note of the most important points.

Task 3 As your teacher discusses the next few slides fill in Lean Learning page 4A.2a. Note you do not have much space. There is no need to copy out the slide. This is on Weebly. You are just noting key facts. Think about where the data has come from – could there be further changes since 2011? Is the data reliable? Look out for articles (newspapers, BBC news, websites) that may add to your knowledge and understanding. Think about change over time. Before moving on to 4A.2b use page 27 of the SUG to complete the sheet.

Age Structure: Liverpool’s population is a young one with some 157,900 people under the age of 25. This is 30.7% of the total population. The biggest increase in Liverpool’s population since 2001 has occurred in the population aged 20-29, while there have also been sizeable increases in those aged 40-64 years and 75 and over. By contrast, the city’s populations aged 5-14 years, 35-39 years and 65-74 years have all decreased over the last 10 years. Census 2011
