CERT Objectives To be able to respond effectively to disaster events in the Solivita community, by: Planning for them, based on CERT training Recruiting members and volunteers to help Budgeting Acquiring equipment and supplies Training and exercising

Activities supporting this Objective Review of Decembers Safe Driving Course Reorganization of equipment and supplies in our tower storage are Annual Dinner with spouses Review of 2008 accomplishments Program: Hands-on blood pressure testing with our own kits Recruited 15 nurses and doctors to assist with swine flu POD

More such activities… Raised funds by selling donated items at Solivitas spring Yard Sale Distributed CPR mouth-to-mouth protection kits to members Updated members medical supplies for their go bags Reorganized medical supplies into 3 cabinets (behind ballroom stage) Program: annual radio familiarization exercise

More such activities… Conducted our annual drill Set up Command Post and communications Set up medical triage center Borrowed County fire box for extinguisher refresher Powered the CP and medical center with our generators Program: Reviewed our planning and documentation forms Program: Reviewed triage principles and procedures

More ongoing activities… Continued soliciting donations of items for Yard Sale Lending of wheelchairs, walkers, canes, pottys and shower stools (to 61 residents)

Why the hearts? Because people are the heart of an organization and that goes for CERT, too. Because CERT is at the heart of Solivitas response to disasters. Because we need the support of our spouses to carry out our mission, and we thank them. And its almost Valentines Day.
