Traits of a Beaver The Beaver is a vertebrate. The beaver is not cold blooded, it is warm blooded. The beaver is a brownish to a dark brown animal. Adult beavers can be 4 feet long ( 1.2 meters). And the beaver is the largest rodent in North America.

Adaptations Their large teeth help them chew and cut sticks. It chews and eats logs and twigs. It also eats tree bark all year round . Body fat is a covering beavers have to keep them warm.

Interesting Fact Many years ago in North America, there were giant beavers the size of black bears. They were 7.5 feet long.

Were does it live? Beavers live in streams, ponds, lakes, or close to the woods. They make dams in the water, then they live inside the dams.
