Climate

Tells how hot, cold, wet, or dry it is going to be on a specific day. What's the differences? Climate Weather How hot, cold, wet or dry a place is over time. It is a pattern of weather than happens year after year. Tells how hot, cold, wet, or dry it is going to be on a specific day.

What's the differences? Click above to watch!

Climate is not the same everywhere on Earth! Let’s see how climate is affected!

Areas closer to the equator have a higher temperature or are hot. Latitude The temperature of a place is determined by how far or how close an area is to the equator. Areas closer to the equator have a higher temperature or are hot. Areas further away from the equator have a lower temperature or are colder!

Altitude Altitude means the height above the ground. The higher a place is, the colder it is! The lower a place is, the warmer it is!

Earth has 4 major climate zones: Desert Tropical Temperate Polar Let’s learn about each!

Desert Climate Zone Very dry Little rainfall Some can be hot Some can be cold Not many plants or animals can survive in this climate. Remember: climate is the weather over a long period of time.

Tropical Climate Zone Tropical climates have a rainy season and a dry season. It is usually hot in this climate zone. A lot of animals and plants live in this climate zone! Remember: climate is the weather over a long period of time.

Temperate Climate Zone Temperate climates have 4 seasons- winter, spring, summer, and fall. The weather can change every day! It can be sunny, hot, warm, rainy, snowy, cold and so much more! Remember: climate is the weather over a long period of time.

Polar Climate Zone Polar climate can also be called tundra or artic! It is Very cold and freezing! Snow and ice cover the land. Remember: climate is the weather over a long period of time.
