Joining Clauses Use a comma to join two clauses together when one is NOT a complete sentence: Example: If an emergency occurs, call 911 immediately. “If an emergency occurs” – is not a complete sentence BUT “Call 911 immediately” is. Other examples?

Joining clauses To prevent a surprise attack, the captain sent a scout ahead to observe the enemy’s camp. “To prevent a surprise attack”- is not a complete sentence by itself, but “ the captain sent a scout ahead to observe the enemy’s camp” is a complete sentence. Questions??????

For Example It was raining, but I brought an umbrella. It was raining, so I brought an umbrella. It didn’t rain, yet I brought an umbrella.

Semi-colons Use a semi-colon IN PLACE of a BOYSFAN conjunction. THIS IS SOOOOOOOOOO EASY!

For example…….. It was raining; I brought an umbrella. It didn’t rain; I looked like an idiot with my big, black umbrella. It should have rained; I brought my umbrella.

Commas and Semi-colons BOYSFAN Use a comma before a BOYSFAN in a sentence. Use a semi-colon to replace a BOYSFAN in a sentence. So now you learned something
