Pathways Word Work/Making Big Words Students practice new vocabulary, spelling, and linking known words to new words Literacy Centers Students work in small groups on independent activities to reinforce reading and writing skills Read Aloud Teacher is reading text to students Shared Reading/Poem Reading a poem and finding words with certain features Guided Reading/Literature Circles Teacher assists and instructs as student reads Independent Reading Students read without assistance while maintaining understanding Writers’ Workshop Students work on the elements of writing. They also learn about a variety of texts.
