Example: Turbulent backstep
Turbulent backstep Turbulent backstep Simulations have been made for a simple backward facing step test case. The aim of the model is to try to match the length of the recirculation zone with experimental data and compare with other simulations. A coarse mesh with 1040 elements was used in the simulations. Results Turbulent backstep - Results About 80% agreement of the recirculation zone length is found. The discrepancy is mostly due to the inadequacies of the k- turbulence model. Other turbulence models and/or corrections may improve matters.
