Allen Creek Safety Patrol Helping others stay safe so we can all Be Our Best Selves, and Do Our Best Work! Advisor: Mrs. Barg 5th Grade 2018-2019

What Is Safety Patrol? An opportunity for 5th grade students to help teachers, students, and parents everyday. A chance to take on more responsibility and demonstrate leadership. A time to work with people and meet new friends.

Benefits to Allen Creek Provide principal and teachers with assistance during morning arrival for all students grades K-5. Help ensure safe behavior such as walking, keeping hands to self, using kind words. Keep an eye out for students who need a helping hand or a friendly smile to start their day off on the right foot.

Character Traits of a Good Safety Patrol Member Leadership Responsibility Organization Academic effort and integrity Ability to respectfully assertive ON AND OFF DUTY- belt on or belt off

Responsibilities Attend one-two recess meetings at the start and possibly midway through your patrol term. Be at your assigned post on time to greet students during morning arrival. Use kind words, tone of voice, and appropriate hand signals to give directions to students if needed. Be ready to ask for adult assistance when necessary. Raise the flag for Allen Creek. Move promptly to homeroom at the end of duties. Make arrangements for any assigned morning work with your teacher.

Can Anyone Be a Safety Patrol Member? In short, no. You must be: Be a positive role model for others whether you are on or off duty. Be able to work without adult supervision, and demonstrate integrity. Remain in good academic standing according to your homeroom teacher. Homework counts too!

How Do I Express My Interest in Joining? Submit a friendly letter of interest to Mrs. Barg. Turn in the letter to your homeroom teacher to forward to Mrs. Barg or give it directly to Mrs. Barg at the beginning of a recess period. All letters due Wednesday, September 12, 2018. This is a firm deadline!
