Psalm 112:6 “For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever.” Good Morning, Greetings… In Psalm 112:6 we read this…(SLIDE) There is a sense of profound commitment to our God above on the part of the righteous. The Scriptures are replete with such truth but this truth is only found fully capable if one delights in God’s commandments…(SLIDE)

Psalm 112:1 “Praise the LORD Psalm 112:1 “Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who greatly delights in his commandments!” This idea is bore out in the very first Psalm as well…(SLIDE)

Psalm 1:2 “but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.” There is only one way I can delight in the law of the LORD and that is when the law is “within my heart.” (SLIDE)

Psalm 40:8 “I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.” So when we consider our lesson today…(SLIDE)

The Righteous Will Never Be Moved What we quickly discover is that our willingness to be moved away from God comes down to a heart issue. In Psalm 112 we find two heart characteristics that motivate a child of God to never be moved. Psalm 112:6

The Supplied Supported Heart & Supported Heart Look at what Ps 112:8 states (SLIDE)

Psalm 112:8 “His heart is steady; he will not be afraid…” The word “steady” in the ESV means “to be supplied with necessities and support.” Why are some children of God immovable and some not? It’s because their heart is supplied and supported by a strong foundation, based on God’s perfect Word. Peter beautifully pointed to this in his second letter (2 Peter 1:5-10). (SLIDE)

2 Peter 1:5-10 “For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness…

…7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ…

…9 For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. 10 Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.” Unfortunately there is a reality that stems from “not” have a supplied and supported heart. For those children of God that seek to have no firm foundation in God’s Word they will find themselves easily persuaded to follow after false doctrines and liberalism.

Ephesians 4:11-15 “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ…

…14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ”

The Supplied Supported Heart & Supported Heart The heart that is properly supplied and supported in God’s Word will never be moved. Its foundation is solid and secure. Once a heart is supplied and supported by God’s Word it becomes…(SLIDE)

The Firmly Established Heart Notice what Psalm 112:7 states…(SLIDE)

Psalm 112:7 “He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.” The word “firm” (ESV) is translated as “established, fixed, steadfast…” in other translations. This word holds the idea of “to be marked by firm determination or resolution; to be unshakable.” In other words this heart is characterized as one that has made its mind up to seek and do the will of God and that nothing is going to hinder it from striving for that. This takes a “setting of the heart or mind” to a singular focus. Ezra did just this in Ezra 7:10. (SLIDE)

Ezra 7:10 “For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel.”

The Righteous Will Never Be Moved Brethren the Bible speaks often about the fruit that we produce. We must make certain we are producing the fruit of righteousness not the spoiled fruit of sin. Question: Do you seek the God first in everything or do you shirk some of your scriptural responsibilities.? In other words is your heart being supplied and support in God’s Word so that it can stand firmly against everything other than God or does your heart fall to the pressures of sin whether it is family, friends, emotions, etc.? Psalm 112:6
