Key Concept: Communication Global Context: Expression Critical literacy, languages and linguistic systems Key Concept: Communication Related Concepts: Audience, Composition Grade 10 Unit 2: Local Colour – Muscat, metaphor, meaning and markets Statement of Inquiry -Analysis and 'unpacking' meaning is an activity useful in many areas of human knowledge; Our inquiry will focus on a purposeful investigation and practical application of this transferable skill. Inquiry Questions: Factual: What visual devices and methods do artists use to convey layered meaning in their work and how are these similar and different from those we look for when analysing written work? Conceptual: What does 'layered meaning' mean? Debateable: Without statements of intent written by the artist how accurate can our readings of artworks be? KUDs Know – some methods for approaching the analysis of artworks Understand – how artists convey meaning in their works. Do – analyse artworks and use this knowledge to develop our own art works and statements of intent
