Photographic Chemical Equations!

What to do… For this activity you will be drawing molecules from three different chemical reaction equations. 1.Translate the following word equations into skeleton equations, (unbalanced equations). 2. Balance the equations. 3. Draw or build the molecules. You must include the arrows as well! Label each side of the arrow as reactants or products.

These are the Equations you must Complete. 1 These are the Equations you must Complete. 1. Aluminum + Iron (III) oxide  aluminum oxyde + iron. 2. Sodium iodide + aluminum chloride  sodium chloride + aluminum iodide 3. Magnesium perchlorate + sodium  sodium perchlorate + magnesium.

4. Take photos of your balanced chemical equations. You can use coloured blocks, candy, or drawings to show your molecules. If you have another idea that interests you, please let me know. 5. After you have taken some photos, print them at home or at school, and give them to me when the project is due.

Exemple Word Equation: Iron (III) chloride + Calcium hydroxide  Iron (III) hydroxide + Calcium chloride Skeleton Equation: FeCl3 + Ca(OH)2  Fe(OH)3 + CaCl2 Balanced Chemical Equation: 2FeCl3 + 3Ca(OH)2  2Fe(OH)3 + 3CaCl2

The Drawing: What your final result should look like The Drawing: What your final result should look like. 2FeCl3 + 3Ca(OH)2  2Fe(OH)3 + 3CaCl2 Products Reactants
