Every day we start Reading at 8:45 Every day we start Reading at 8:45. We practice letters, sounds, words, and skills for 90 minutes.

We are learning how to write complete sentences with a capital letter, a period, a noun, and a verb.

Every Friday we are tested on our High Frequency Words and our weekly skills.

We will be working in groups to complete tasks related to our weekly skills. We will get to listen to stories, work on the computers, and read with Mrs. Byers in a small group to help us to become fluent readers.

We are learning how to add numbers with sums less than on equal to ten.

We are learning about the fruits of fall like apples and pumpkins.

We are learning about Fire Safety We are learning about Fire Safety. Tomorrow our local fire firemen will visit us at school.

We eat our lunch everyday at 11:30 We eat our lunch everyday at 11:30. We can order the regular lunch, the alternate, peanut butter & jelly, or a yogurt package.

We go to the Library every Thursday with Mrs. Keruskin at 12:30.

We have Music class every Wednesday with Mrs. Guritza at 12:30.

We are to complete all homework on the “return to school” side of our binders. Please sign our books and planners so Mrs. Byers knows that you checked our homework.

We use the student computers in our classroom to practice our reading and math skills during center time.

When we are done with our work, we read books from the classroom library. We can bring books from home to put in them to read, too.

We are planning to take a field trip at the end of our first-grade year. The location, date, and details will be determined as it draws near.

We are very busy workers and we use pencils, crayons, and erasers everyday. Mrs. Byers always makes sure we have what we need to learn. We are allowed to bring supplies of our own to use.

If you would like to volunteer for the celebrations or events that take place throughout the school year, please let Mrs. Byers know by writing her a special note.

At the end of the day, we pack up and eat a snack. I can bring a snack for myself or for the whole class. We have to be careful not to bring anything with nuts.
