Español 1 Srta. Mandrich | E205 | Arundel High School YOUR GRADE Course Description Use authentic resources to practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking in Spanish Examine the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries and peoples Prepare for Spanish 2 in order to fulfill the high school language requirement of AACPS. Standards Interpersonal: Understand & respond (e.g. conversation, email) Interpretive: Understand speech & writing (e.g. conversation, videos, audio) Presentational: Deliver a written or spoken message (e.g. speech, essay) We will speak in Spanish most of the time! Contemporary Life Families & Communities REDO POLICY Per AACPS regulation, students may redo an assessment after receiving feedback from the teacher. Students are encouraged, but not required, to participate in teacher-led re-teaching. It is the student’s responsibility to set up a time to redo the assessment with the teacher ahead of time – the teacher will not track down students for redos. All redo items must be completed within 10 days of receiving the original grade and may only be redone once. The higher of the two grades will be recorded. Classwork and homework assignments are not eligible for redos unless otherwise determined by the teacher. The teacher may choose to have the student redo all of an assessment or only specific items or parts of the work. Study/ask for help: Quarterly Exams, Formative Work/Quizzes and Homework CANNOT be redone! Practice Spanish as often as possible. Be an active, engaged member of the class. LATE WORK 50% minimum score given for all late assignments - turn in with pink sheet Not accepted after 5 school days

Spanish 1 Expectations ¿Puedo hablar en inglés? Your teacher will be speaking in Spanish 90% or more of the time. If you MUST speak in English, you’ll need to ask permission… ¿Puedo hablar en inglés? You will also need to speak in Spanish with your teacher and classmates – this will be part of your Daily Participation Grade! Formative Work/Quizzes Warm Ups, Daily Participation, Exit Slips, & Weekly Quizzes Homework Homework is assigned weekly. You should also expect to study your vocabulary DAILY and spend time working on projects outside of class!
