Johannes Brahms Born in Hamburg, Germany on May 7, 1833 Father was a musician Is considered one of the “3 B’s” of Classical music (Bach & Beethoven are the other 2) Began playing the piano at age 7 As a teenager, Brahms used his musical talent to earn money at local establishments to help ease family’s financial burden Met Schumann in 1853. Schumann publically praised Brahms as a genius, which helped Brahms become world-famous. Close friends with Robert and Clara.
Johannes Brahms Brahms gave his last performance in March 1897 in Vienna. Brahms, an uncompromising perfectionist, destroyed some of his works and left others unpublished.
