Citizenship Folder R: responsibility H: homework W: wasting time T: talking at inappropriate times B: behavior This is a teaching tool that is also used to communicate with parents. Parent initials over the weekend Expect a few marks, no one is expected to be perfect When you apply to college, no one asks how many marks you got

Fourth Grade Curriculum Language Arts Spelling/ Vocabulary –“Get to the Root of It- Greek and Latin Roots” – “Spectrum Spelling” Storyworks Novel Studies Writing Assessment Writing in response to the reading of several (2-4) rigorous texts. Students will then be asked to support their response with evidence from the text. The writing assessment will be administered on paper.

Student Responsibilities: Record assignments in the planner Get your Citizenship Folder signed each week Complete work on time Check the website Be prepared with materials, sharpened pencils Keep papers organized in your binder Ask for make-up work when absent Turn in make-up work when completed Ask for help when needed

How to help your child: Check the student planner daily Help your child be an advocate for their learning-encouraging them to ask their teacher questions Read with your child and to your child Help your child set up a scheduled time to work on homework, study for tests, or read for recreational reading Look through your child’s binder to help keep them organized Sign your child’s Citizenship Folder weekly- discuss any marks they received. Remember, look for patterns, not perfection! Please remove items that can stay home (Newsletters) Set up a place in the house to keep school related items
