Scheduling 2017-18 McLean Middle School

General Information 7 Period Days 4 minute passing periods 8th grade has 3 elective choices 7th grade has 2 elective choices

Change to the Schedule There will be 2 lunches, but the time will be changed. It will be later in the day.

Core Classes English 7th 8th Onlevel PreAP English 1 There are Prerequisites to get into the honors and accelerated classes.

Core Classes Science 7th 8th Onlevel PreAP Accelerated Biology There are Prerequisites to get into the honors and accelerated classes.

Electives All electives are a full year. Students must have 1 year of PE credit in middle school. 8th graders have 3 choices and 7th graders have 2 choices.

Elective Choices Languages French, Latin, Spanish You must take 2 years of this class. You will end up with a High School credit if you complete and pass the 2 years.

Elective Choices Fine Arts Art Theatre Choir Classes are based on years of experience. Art 1 – High School Credit (students apply) Theatre Choir Placement in the correct class will come from a tryout.

Elective Choices Other (continued) Geography Themes and Perspectives ONLY for 8th graders Students must be in accelerated classes Plan on taking AP Human Geography in HS High School Credit Family and Consumer Science and Fashion Merchandising Math and Reading Enhancement If you do not pass the STAAR this year you will be placed in one or both of these classes in place of an elective.
