Vocational Training or Rehabilitation- Wikipedia 12/13 Vocational education has diversified over the 20th century and now exists in industries such as retail, tourism, information technology, funeral services and cosmetics, as well as in the traditional crafts and cottage industries.

Job Seeking Skills aka Job Overview Job seeking skills instruction provided either individually or in a classroom setting that includes progressive work on completing a master application, interview and job search plan (otherwise known as the competencies). May also include, but is not limited to instruction on other job finding topics such as goal setting, skills identification, job retention, resume writing, etc.

Employability Participants are required to attend classes or receive individual instruction on basic skills that increase employability. Instruction may include, but is not limited to: improving writing, reading, math, communication skills and customer service training. The competencies (completing a master application, mock interview and job search plan) must also be incorporated into this component. CD’s with AZTEC Worksheets are available from the State EF Office.

Job Finding For participants who are enrolled and participating in any WIA program.

Self Employment Classes For participants who are interested in taking classes to learn how to start their own business. Classroom attendance is required as well as completion of all homework assignments and attendance at any individual appointments. The provider is usually the Leading Edge Program through the Small Business Development Center.

Work at a Non-Profit or Government Site Workfare Work at a Non-Profit or Government Site Household allotment divided by State minimum wage = monthly requirement. $189 divided by $8.00 = 23.62 = 23 Always round down…

Workfare Community Benefits Agency Benefits Participant Benefits I.S. or P.S. Enhanced Funding Community Benefits-work provided by participants Agency Benefits-Good public relations AND ENHF Participant-work experience, networking, working vs. nonworking, meets work req, good reference

Workfare Contracted sites: -supervisor always on site -possibility of hire -homeless -non-English speaking -sex and/or ex-offenders -training -variety -location/ public transportation -flexibility -same conditions as other employees

Workfare No: Workers Compensation insurance political activities hazardous duties Workers Compensation insurance + 8 hours per day +30 hours per week Participants must be covered by Workers Compensation insurance on every workfare site. personal work for agency staff

Non-ABAWDS May be in any activity. Must complete required workfare hours OR minimum of 3 hrs per week in education, work or job search.

ABAWDS May be in any activity, except Job Overview. Must complete the required amount of workfare hours OR 80 hrs per month in education, part-time work or training.

Expected Activity Hours 120 By regulation, the number of hours of participation combined with the number of hours worked for compensation (cash or in-kind) may not exceed 120 hours per month for any ABAWD or non-ABAWD.

11/9 Rule 11 hours Non-workfare (minimum) + 9 job contacts (maximum)
